TIPS TO STAY HEALTHY DURING THE WUHAN EPIDEMIC
The Wuhan Coronavirus ( 2019 – nCov ) that is spreading from China has now become a pandemic that circles the globe, shocking many people who are taking preventive measures to avoid getting infected.
Tip 1: Sanitise your hand regularly
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the CDC, hand sanitizer is one of the best tools available to avoid getting sick and spreading germs. Hand sanitizers are gels that contain alcohol in order to kill the germs present on the skin. The alcohol works immediately and effectively in order to kill bacteria and most viruses.
During this period of time, it is important to use a hand sanitizer regularly and a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% of alcohol will be sufficient.
Tip 2: Avoid touching your face with hands
Our hands are full of germs and an average person touches communal surface about three times an hour and touches their own mouth or nose even more frequently. When you scratch your nose or rub your eyes, it will get in contact with the germs you have contacted from touching communal surface.
Hence , it is important to avoid hand-to-face contact and wash hands regularly to prevent any infectious disease.
Tip 3: Educate yourself on the right way to wear masks
Masks should only be worn by those who are unwell and N95 masks which are designed to filter airborne particles ( useful in haze situation ) are unnecessary. Instead , one should opt to use surgical masks which are designed to keep large particle droplets and splatter from passing from a person’s mouth to nearby surfaces or people.
Surgical masks are also more comfortable than N95 respirators, which it make comfortable for people.
Tip 4: Seek medical attention once you have been unwell
A tip would be to check your temperature at least twice a day if you have been feeling unwell. Monitor your symptoms carefully and visit a doctor if it does not improve after a week. Also, remember to wear a mask when you are feeling unwell and in crowded areas to avoid spreading to others.
Tip 5: Invest in an air purifier
Often, there tends to be more air pollution inside homes than outside as there is not much ventilation on the inside. Areas with little ventilation are more capable of trapping pollutants such as dusts which are commonly found in homes.
An air purifier quickly and quietly clear allergens and almost all other pollutants present in the air, improving indoor air quality.
